Oneleo计划在4月份的时候,要买这本书,并同时买一些其他的书。这本书,个人建议还是彻底执行一下。因为,这本书告诉我们如何以一颗积极的心态去面对我们的生活,工作以及我们的人际关系。这不仅是一本销售的圣典,也是一本人生的指导。

强烈推荐朋友们看看,并且以实际行动来实践一下。对于想改变自己生活状态的那些朋友,对于想努力前进而不满足的那些朋友,对于想实现个人梦想的那些朋友们!

 

[每周阅读] 《你的误区》Your Erroneous Zones

书,不是看完便束之高阁的,电子书也不是看完,便被删掉或者埋葬在文件夹下众多目录之中的,书是读完了要再次反复阅读的,反复体会,反复思考和反复实践的。

所以,这本书虽好,但是恐怕任何一个人在读的时候都回恍然大悟,但是读完之后就又会继续自己原来的一些就习惯,那为什么在看完这本书之后,不给自己列出几条以后禁止的一些行为习惯呢?贴在你容易看见的地方,每周定期进行一次自我反省,看看自己有没有改掉那些不是很好的习惯和生活态度。如果没有反省,就不会有进步。而如果没有实践,就不会有效果。

建议如果已经读完这本书的朋友们,在周末的时间里重新拿起这本书再回顾一下,相信你又会有新的感悟和发现。而这些都将是对你有益的。

 

[每周阅读]《在商言商》

首先感谢Edwin对本书的留言, 他以自己的切身实践和体会跟我们分享了,他在读完这本书之后的想法。

Oneleo也承认,对于一个初涉职场的人来说,看这本书或许只能看个表面,而并非能够看到深处。Oneleo相信自己也没有真正看到深处的,毕竟阅历不够。所以,很多时候,很多道理,还是需要我们自己亲身去实践了,去体验了才会有更深的认识。

生活需要我们不断地去实践,而书籍可以指导我们实践和思考的方式和方向。

 

补充说明:

Oneleo 原定的计划是:每周看一本书,然后与大家分享。但是,由于当时考虑不充分,并没有考虑到书的内容,性质以及长度。

下周Oneleo 在看一本国际贸易研究生的教材《今日全球商务》,需要两个周甚至半个月的时间去读,然后再需要一个周的时间去消化,所以,在4月份的话,Oneleo 只能推荐1—2本书。

Here’s the structure of an interview: The interviewer asks you a lot of questions about you, figures out what you like, what you’re good at, and customizes as he pitches the company and the job to you.

以下是一种常见的面试过程:面试时,面试官通常会问到很多关于你的问题,从中他可以知道你喜欢什么,你擅长什么,然后根据公司以及这份工作而对你下一个定义。

This structure works fine if you are not all that interested in the job. But if you go into the interview knowing that you want the job, this structure will not benefit you. This is because if you really want the job, you will be trying very hard during the interview to convince the person that you’re a good match. But the structure of the interview doesn’t give you the chance to find out a lot about what they’re looking for in a match, until the very end.

如果你对这份工作不是很感兴趣那么这个指导会奏效。但是,如果你去参加这份面试并且很希望得到这份工作,这个指导可能不会对你很有用。这是因为,如果你极其想要这份工作,那么你会在整个面试过程中非常非常努力地去证明自己就是这份工作的最佳人选。但是,这种面试过程并不能给你机会让你去发现他们真正想要的是怎样的一个人选,直到面试的最后。

You will get to the end of the interview, and the person will say, “Do you have any questions for me?” The questions that everyone recommends you ask are questions that would help you know what the company is looking for in a new hire: Questions about the goals and philosophies of the company, about the parameters of the position you’re interviewing for, about the expectations for the person they hire.

当你要进入面试尾声的时候,此时面试官会说:“你有问题要问我么?”对于这个问题,通常建议你问一些问题来帮助你更好的理解这个公司在招聘过程中到底需要怎样的人才:如关于公司的愿景和哲学,关于职位的条件和限制,关于他们对受聘者的期望的问题。

The answers to these questions would help you to explain why you are the ideal candidate for the job. So why ask these questions at the end? Ask them as close to the beginning as you can.

这些问题的答案会帮助你解释为什么你会是这个工作的最佳人选。既然这样,为什么要在最后问这些问题呢?尽可能在最开始的时候提问。

The first time I saw this in action was when I was interviewing a candidate. I started with, “So, why don’t you tell me a bit about yourself.”

She said, “Well, first why don’t you tell me a bit about the job so that I can tailor my answer to your particular needs right now?”

I was surprised, but it made a lot of sense to me. I told her about the job. And I ended up making her an offer.

So don’t hijack the interview, but try to ask a bit about the position at the begining of the inteview and then you, too, can tailor your answers to the requirements of the job. With this strategy, coming up with questions will be easy because you will naturally want to know what the hiring manager is looking for so you can be that person:

What would the first three goals be for the person who takes this job?

If you ask a variation of these questions toward the beginning of the interview — even if you ask only one or two — you’ll be in a much better position to ace the rest of the interview.

如果面试一开始你便开始发问以上各种各样的问题——即使你只问了这些问题的一个或者两个——那么你也将在余下的面试过程中处于一个有利的地位。

While it is bucking convention to ask questions toward the beginning and not the end, consider that you will look more authentic doing this. After spending the whole interview convincing the person that you are a good fit for the job, why would you ask questions about the job at the end? Presumably, you already talked about why you are a good fit.

虽然在面试的一开始问这些问题而不是留待最后问这是有悖于常规的,但这么做会使你看上去更加可靠。在经历了整个面试过程你总在努力地证实你才是这个工作的最佳人选,那你为什么还要把这些问题留到最后去问呢?大概,你已经讨论过为什么你是最合适的人选了吧。

So when you get to the end of the interview, and the person says, “Do you have an questions for me?” You can feel free to say, “No, I think I asked enough questions at the beginning of the interview to understand how I will fit in well in this position. I’m very excited about working with you. I think we’re a good match. Do you have any reservations?”

Here’s how you figure out what to do next in your career: you line up all the stuff you like to do and you figure out which one will pay best. Don’t complain to me that I’m too focused on money. Really. Just do the exercise. The ones who are complaining the most right now, after reading just this far, are the people who are most in denial of what adult life is about.

Look, figuring out what you should do is actually a hard task. Because you have to start eliminating stuff.

1. Eliminate stuff.
Cross off your list all the stuff that you like to do but that pays well only if you have the career-equivalent of winning the lottery. Stuff like, being a feature film director, being an opera singer, or being the owner of the Chicago Cubs.

Then eliminate all the stuff that you think would be fun but probably will never pay well: working in a nonprofit, working in local government, being a travel writer.

2. Look at what’s left. If you are a risk-taker, entrepreneurship is left. If you are not a risk taker, then something in corporate life is left. That’s because this is what adult life is for most people. You get up every day and work at a job you never dreamed about doing when you were a kid.

3. Check in with yourself. Do you feel like you are going to die? Have you been writing songs since you were five years old and you cannot imagine living if you don’t write songs? You can still write them. At your house, after work. Have you been skiing every day you possibly can since forever? Then get a job in Aspen and ski at night.

You don’t need to go into journalism because you love writing. You need to write because you love writing. The same is true for everything else you love. Just because you love something doesn’t mean you need to get paid for it.

你喜欢写作,并不意味着你必须得去新闻业工作。你写只是因为你喜欢写。同样的道理适用于你所喜欢做的其它任何一件事情。仅仅是因为你喜欢做一件事情,并不意味着你必须从那里得到报酬。

4. Be honest about what you love. If you’re not making time to do it regularly unpaid, then you probably don’t love it. Here’s the litmus test: Sex. We do it regularly, unpaid, and we love it. Run this test on other stuff you supposedly love. Do you crave it like sex? Then you probably don’t love it that much. You probably love the idea of loving it, the idea of who you are when you say you love that thing.

When I graduated from college, I did all these things that I’ve just told you to do, and it was soul-crushing. The corporate jobs made me ill. But it was very clear to me what I wanted to do: I wanted to play professional beach volleyball. I was ready to commit everything to that. It did not meet the criteria of being something that could probably support me, but I did it anyway, because it was so completely clear to me that that’s what I wanted no matter what.

5. Admit if you lack a clear passion. If you don’t have something that is overwhelmingly important to do, then you probably don’t have anything that you’d absolutely rather be doing than getting up and going to work every day. So just start doing that. In any field. And stop deluding yourself that you have so many interests that you can’t choose. Really what you have is no clear interest and only a bunch of things you would consider if you had nothing to do.

6. Get busy. Doing anything. But you do have something to do. You need to earn money. And since you don’t have anything that’s making you feel like you’re gonna die if you don’t do it, go get a job in a cube and stop complaining. The best way to find yourself is to start doing things. When it comes to ourselves, we find by doing, not philosophizing.

When I stopped playing volleyball, I tried tons of different jobs, trying to figure out which one was right for me. I changed jobs every year. And I figured out where I fit.

6. 忙起来,什么都做:但是你确实有甚多事情要做。你必须赚钱。那么既然没有任何一件事情如果你不去做的话就有一种要死的感觉,那么去找到一份工作并且从此停止抱怨。一种最好的找到自己的方法就是开始做事情。当那种感觉来到我们身边的时候,我们在做的过程中找到了它,并不是一种哲学探讨。

But all that time, I wrote at night. After work. Marci Alboher writes about “slashes,” those people who have two careers, like, lawyer/actress. But really, we all have two careers. We have the career that is what we do that earns money, and we have the stuff we do at home because we love it. Career is not just your day job anymore—career is how you spend all your time. Spend it doing things that matter to you, and don’t discount that struggling with what it looks like is a necessary phase. Time spent struggling to figure out what matters to you—that something that should be as important to you as sex—is essential to you becoming you.

所有那些时光,在工作之后,我晚上都在写作。Marci Alboher 写了一本关于“slashes”的书,那些有着两种职业生涯的人,例如,律师/演员。但事实上,我们每个人都有着自己的两种职业。一种职业是我们赖以生存的工作,而另外一种就是你喜欢的在家里做的事情。职业生涯并不仅仅只是你白天一天的工作,而是你怎样度过你所拥有的时间。花时间在一些对你重要的事情上,不要让这个奋斗的必经阶段被打折扣。要弄清楚什么对自己至关重要那是需要很长一段时间的,那一定是像性爱一样对你重要,你之所以是你的最本质的东西。

这篇文章不错,因自己很长时间以来一直也在思考到底自己适合做什么,喜欢做什么。总是试图找到一份自己既喜欢又能够有着不错报酬的工作。因自己很长时间以来一直奉承一个观点,做自己喜欢做的事情才最快乐。可是,一直到现在都没有找到一份工作是自己喜欢做的(虽然毕业到现在将近两年了却一直都是在这家公司,也没有机会去尝试太多的选择)。

有人也说:工作无所谓喜欢还是不喜欢,因为它只是工作,只是我们生活中赖以生存的一部分。而另一部分,就是你真正所喜欢做的事情,哪怕没有任何报酬,都会乐此不疲的去做。这就好比我现在正在一直更新自己的blog,一直都想把很多好的东西与大家分享。

但是,这并不排除有的人的确做着自己喜欢做确又有着丰厚报酬的一份工作,但是这样的人毕竟是少数,毕竟张艺谋只有一个,毕竟帕瓦罗蒂也只有一个,毕竟比尔盖茨也只有一个,哪怕后面出现类似的一些人,也是芸芸众生中的一点点而已。所以,与其在一直空想,一直等待,还不如马上开始行动。做一份赖以生存的工作,再做一件自己喜欢做的事情。这样的人生就已经很有意义了。

Strip clubs-The Texas pole tax

A good cause, but a bad policy

THERE is a new price to be paid for looking at naked women in Texas. On January 1st the state’s strip clubs began imposing a $5 surcharge for each visitor. The “pole tax,” as it is commonly called, is expected to bring the state an additional $40m in revenue each year. Most of the proceeds will go to programmes that support victims of sexual assault.

Helping rape victims is obviously an excellent idea, and the measure was passed by the Texas legislature easily last year. But it is controversial in some quarters. Club owners, in particular, think they are being shaken down and vilified despite providing a perfectly legal service, and are already sounding a little defensive. Commercials for The Lodge, in Dallas, boast that its customers enjoy “women, manly steaks, cigars, and women.” In light of the new tax a co-owner has noted, rather less laddishly, that the club also raises money for charity via car washes. Smaller clubs are worried that their patrons cannot or will not pony up five measly dollars, a prediction that may prove true but is certainly rather depressing.

Another gripe is that the tax implies an unfair link between club patronage and sexual violence, though no evidence to support this has been presented. State representative Ellen Cohen, who sponsored the legislation, argued that connecting the two is fair because both strip clubs and sex crimes objectify women. And apparently a majority of Texas legislators were comfortable with that explanation. In 2004, in contrast, Governor Rick Perry proposed taxing strip clubs to pay for public schools. The idea was considered inappropriate and it went nowhere.

Such targeted taxes seem to be in vogue at the moment. Gavin Newsom, the mayor of San Francisco, recently proposed that retailers pay a fee for selling sugar-laden fizzy drinks. The revenue would fund a city initiative to encourage healthy eating and exercise. Last year’s proposed expansion of the State Children’s Health Insurance Programme would have been funded by increased tobacco taxes (though the connection here also seems rather a stretch, since not that many children smoke; George Bush vetoed it anyway). In Wisconsin, a state legislator wants to raise more money for the juvenile criminal justice system via a tax on video games.

Critics say that all of these measures are punitive. Louche behaviour, after all, is not a crime. But its practitioners have had a hard time making their case. Last month opponents of the pole tax filed for a temporary injunction against it. They argued that nude dancing is a type of expression and that its free exercise should therefore not be inhibited. The judge was unimpressed.

在第二讲中对于职业化的形象,余老师又提出了以下值得学习,讨论和借鉴的几点再加上我自己的理解和阐述:

  • 一个优秀的业务员,应该学会如何去阐述自己所卖产品的特性,应该学会站在客户的角度上,去思考怎样才能让客户买下这个商品,换句话说,应该是帮助客户买商品,而不是骗或者强迫甚至诱导客户买商品。

比如说,A,B,C 三个人在卖低脂的牛奶,你正好经过:

A 对你说:看看啊,这是最新推出的低脂牛奶。

B 对你说:低脂牛奶,脂肪很低。

C 对你说:脂肪含量低,我们吃了不会长胖。同时,营养价值又很高。这样,我们即能够补充足够的营养,同时又能够保持苗条的身材,岂不是一举两得,为什么不来两盒呢?

那么,你会选择从哪个人那里买呢?毋庸置疑,肯定是C。

A所说的只是商品的一个性质,B 对商品的性质进行了说明,而唯独只有C 说出了商品的利益,说出了顾客如果购买此商品,所能够得到的是什么?

这里,只是一个很简单的小例子,但是,关键是告诉我们,无论是百货公司的推销员,还是大公司的出口产品,我们要向我们的客户不仅仅说明的是这个商品是什么,有什么特性,我们更要让客户明白,所购买这个商品的价值在哪里,让客户能够感受到,他从我么这里购买的商品,不仅仅只是一个实物,更有很多无形的价值所在。

  • 一个优秀的公司员工,应该具备自己的档案。

在这里是指什么意思呢?我们每个新员工初次进入这个公司,肯定都要学习一下员工手册,那么,员工手册那么厚厚的一本,我们都应该学些什么呢?我们最应该掌握的便是那些与我们部门密切相关的规定。再比方说,每次参加培训,培训资料都会有一堆一堆的。而我们通常在培训之后,就把这些资料束之高阁。然而,我们应该做的是,从这些资料中挑选一些与自己最为密切的信息,挑选自己不懂又需要弄懂的信息,挑选一些对我们客户来说至观重要的信息,并把它们独自归类,整理。 这样,自己就有了一本自己的技术档案。

所以,有时候并不是信息越多越好,而是我们应该找到最有价值的信息借以保存并整理归纳出来。

同样,对于公司的材料,我们每位员工都应该针对自己的特点,进行剪贴,整合,分类,创造一本价值更大的档案。

而在这一点,我个人做得也是相当的不好。

记得在高中时,语文老师让我们看完的报纸都要从中剪下一些宝贵的知识,资料,等等然后分类,最后都统一粘在一个本子上面。这样以后,我们有事没事,拿出来看看,就会看到最精华的新闻,最精华的理论,以及最精华的评论等等。可是,这个习惯,并没有能够被我坚持到现在。

我在想,我到公司之后,学习手册,培训资料都是一堆一堆的,自己就从来没有针对自己的情况对这些资料进行分类,整理,也真是可惜。还好,我现在知道了,还有机会去弥补。

  • 我们要不断地走出去,不断地向他人学习。

所谓的“一年去一次深圳,两年去一次香港, 三年去一次东京,四五年去一次欧美”就是要告诉我们,固步自封是不现实的。我们有机会,就要走出去,向那些更先进的国家,业绩更好的公司学习。

而在学习的过程中,我们要明确自己的责任,明确这次出国考察的使命是什么?明确这次是出去看什么?用什么方式去学习?(采访,录音,拍照,录像还是其它?)要问的问题是什么?问完了之后,是否还要进行整理?回国之后是否要进行讨论?这些都是我们在一次次考察中,应该注意的几点!

所以,对于那些能够有机会出国考察的人员来说,一定要做好充足的准备工作,而不是,过去了之后就开始观光,旅游,听歌剧之类的事情……

对于这一点,我个人也想说一下,很多国内的人,到国外去考察,培训或者学习的热情,远远小于他们想去那里游完的热情。这一点,或许是一个很大的弊端。甚至,包括自己也是一样。不知道自己这趟培训的真正目的是什么?所以,以后一定要纠正这种劣根心态。

  • 还有很重要的一点就是,企业要有自己的CIS,即企业识别系统。(Corporation Identity System)

对于这个概念,我还是头一次听说(我承认自己的孤陋寡闻)。主要就是说,一个公司要有能够让别人把你这个公司与别的公司区隔开来的特性。比如,一个公司的Logo. 一个公司的门牌颜色,一个公司的装潢特点。举例说明,肯德基,麦当劳,他们就有自己的企业识别系统。而这个,又会涉及到很多细节。当然,这些看似只是表面功夫。并不是说,只有这些做好了,我们公司设计了一个独特的Logo,我们今天把公司的墙都涂成某种颜色,那么我们就完成了自己的企业识别系统。其实,这些只是表象。企业识别系统,也包含了深刻的内涵。一个公司全体员工的工作态度,全体员工的工作方式等等,这些其实更是我们客户所最最关心的点。

  • 要把销售人员跟所作的销售记录联系起来。也就是说,今天张三卖了一套家具给客户,并不是意味着这个销售的活动就结束了。

而我们应该做的是,把张三卖给谁什么家具这一套信息都记录下来,留待以后备用。因为,所有的客户,他都希望如果发现什么问题都能够找到当时卖给他这件商品的人。而,我们把这条记录保留下来,就方便我们找到张三,让张三去更好的解决这个问题。

由此,我联想到了我们公司的一种情况是:

我们公司的销售和售后服务是分开的,是完全不同的两个部门,各自有着自己的总监和上司。当然,我们公司是按照部门职能来横向划分的。这样就很容易造成一种现象,那就是销售和售后服务脱节。

在我们公司,所有的销售都是由外销的销售人员去联系的,把我们公司的产品推销出去,并卖出去,拿到这笔订单。于是,这就是这个销售人员的全部职责。到此为止。而如果,某天这个产品出现问题,客户需要找我们提供售后服务,此时,找那个人是没用的,还必须单独联系另外一个部门。我来公司一年多了,经常会接到这样的电话:“是XX公司吗?我们用的产品有了XX故障,请问我该联系谁?”首先声明一点,我不是前台,类似这种电话,一定是联系不到原来的销售人员,要么就是这个销售人员又随便给了一个公司电话,于是就这样推来推去的。那么,我在接到类似电话的时候,通常会把专门负责售后服务的人的联系方式给他。

对于我们的客户,如果他能够方便的跟我们的销售人员联系起来的话,那样就会方便很多。

而我们公司,把销售和售后服务分开,就造成了一种销售的脱节现象。这种现象只会把问题扩大化……
